January 12, 2010 is a date that no Haitian will ever forget. The scale of the catastrophe and the hardships in recovering from it are unimaginable. Most people we meet don’t talk about this event and lost loved ones a lot. But - in the entire week prior to the date, many people we met talked about their memories and experience from the earthquake.
Our teachers preferred to mark this day as a day of thanks for the lives that were saved. We had some educational activities about earthquake and an art class about reconstruction.

The 12th was dedicated to prayers throughout the village and the country. Our hope is that next year will show significant progress in reconstructing the broken down country we’ve learned to love.
